EV Road Trip to Long Beach: Everything You Need to Know

I've been getting more questions about EV charging since we installed the 240V/50amp charger at SeaQueen. As someone who really appreciates the benefits of electric vehicles, I wanted to share everything I've learned about EVing to Long Beach from our guests' experiences and local EV community.

Charging at SeaQueen

The Setup:

• 240V, 50-amp outlet in the parking lot
• Works with all EVs
• Important: You must bring your own charging cable
• Free charging included with your stay
• Charges most EVs to 80% overnight

Real-World Numbers: Based on guest feedback, most EVs (like a Tesla Model Y, Chevy Bolt, or similar) charge from 20% to 80% in about 6-7 hours. Perfect for overnight charging while you sleep.

Getting to Long Beach

From Portland (175 miles):

• Leave with 80%+ charge
• No charging needed en route
• Arrive with 30-40% remaining
• Charge overnight at SeaQueen

From Seattle (190 miles):

• Supercharger stop in Centralia (usually 20 min)
• Arrive with comfortable range
• Top off at SeaQueen

Backup Charging Options

If for some reason you need more:

• Astoria Supercharger: 15 miles north (8 stalls)
• Seaside, OR: Public L2 chargers (free!)
• Ilwaco: 2 ChargePoint stations

Why This Matters

Having reliable charging means:

• Lower travel costs (vs. gas)
• Quieter, more relaxing drive
• Guilt-free road trip (coastal conservation is important!)
• No range anxiety

The EV-Friendly Coast

Long Beach is surprisingly EV-friendly. Several restaurants have charging, and the town is working on expanding infrastructure. You're in good hands here.
