September: The Coast's Best-Kept Secret
Can I let you in on a secret? September is my favorite month at the coast. The summer crowds have returned to school and work, but the weather is still gorgeous. It's the sweet spot.
Why September Rocks
Weather:
- Average temps: 60-70°F
- Less wind than summer
- Often the sunniest month (seriously!)
- Ocean is at its warmest
The Vibe:
- Restaurants are quieter (no waits!)
- Beach feels like your private playground
- Local businesses are relaxed and chatty
- Parking? Not a problem.
Rates:
- Shoulder season pricing
- More availability for last-minute trips
- Better deals on everything
What to Do in September
Beach Walks: The summer wind dies down, making beach walks more pleasant. You can actually have a conversation without shouting!
Dining Out: Try all those restaurants you couldn't get into during summer. The Depot Restaurant, Pickled Fish, Lost Roo – no reservations needed.
Hot Tub Time: Cooler evenings make the hot tub even better. There's something perfect about 65° air and 104° water.
Explore Towns: Drive up to Astoria, Oregon, explore local shops, visit the Saturday market. Everything's open but not crowded.
September Events
- Fall Equinox Celebration (Sept 21): Local gathering on the beach
- Harvest dinners at local restaurants
- Last beach bonfires before permits end
